Part 1: Bubbles Before the Storm
Friday evening in Roseville had a sparkle in the air—and not just from the flutes of bubbly that clinked inside the blacked-out limo bus rolling down Vernon Street. Inside the vehicle, ten old college friends from UC Davis laughed, screamed, and danced like it was 2011 again. They hadn’t seen each other in years, and now, reunited for Lindsey’s engagement weekend, the limo bus had become their mobile reunion lounge.
They started the night with appetizers and wine at The Monk’s Cellar, sharing bites and raising toasts as the bus idled outside, gleaming under the city’s golden hour glow. Their chauffeur, Dante, gave them the nod—it was time to go. He opened the door with flair, and they boarded like celebrities.
Their plan was ambitious: start in Roseville, swing through Granite Bay for lakeside drinks at Farmhaus, then head south through Rocklin, Loomis, and Folsom before ending the night in El Dorado Hills at Milestone for a late-night steak-and-jazz experience.
But plans—like champagne corks—have a way of popping when you least expect it.
Somewhere between Rocklin and Loomis, their playlist was interrupted by a flickering screen. The Bluetooth had crashed. Phones couldn’t reconnect. The mood teetered—but then Dante stepped in. Quiet and composed, he slid open a hidden compartment behind the bar.
Inside? A collection of custom-mixed CDs, labeled Ride or Vibe Vol. 1 through Vol. 6. He popped in one, and the soft pulse of electro-swing with hints of reggaeton filled the cabin. The girls went wild. Whatever this was, it wasn’t just a limo bus ride anymore—it was an event.
As they made their next stop at Casque Wines in Loomis, everyone had a question on their mind: who was Dante really? And why did his CD mixes feel like they were made just for them?
